We are not second-class workers! We want to be respected!

The Issue

In view of all the recent panic that the discovery of people infected with coronavirus who have had contact with the community and the Prime Minister's announcement of closing all the schools, including the University has caused; we, the administrative and technical staff of the University of Malta have been forgotten.

We have asked for direction as to how to go about our duties following the announcement, but we have not even been provided with a confirmation that we should report to work on Friday 13th. While lecturers and students have been contacted. We have been forgotten and left to flounder in the mire of confusion as to where our jobs stand.

One would expect that AT LEAST we would have been informed that we are to report to work as normal, not left without any direction or communication. The situation is appalling and shows how little we are valued and respected.

This petition's aim is to urge those responsible to take action and not forget us and our valuable contribution to the University's running as is currently, and unfortunately, the case right now.
