Keep UMaine Tuition from Rising During COVID-19, 2020

Keep UMaine Tuition from Rising During COVID-19, 2020
The Issue
It has come to some of the student body’s attention that the University of Maine at Orono has not only made the whole COVID-19 situation difficult to endure with the hard to obtain, expensive emergency housing, almost lost stipends, lost research, and other crucially effected matters; they are now considering raising tuition by 2.5% for the upcoming Fall 2020 semester.
The fact they are considering this during a global pandemic when students are financially suffering more than ever, can only be called atrocious at best. Not much else is know about this, as the university has kept most of the details hush hush. What we do know is that the final decision is being made this coming Friday(6/26), so we must work to reverse the possibilities of this prior to the worse case scenario happening. This petition is to show the university that this will not be taken lying down, especially as instate, out of state, and international students alike will be directly effected by this travesty. This is the opportunity to make a difference, to have our voices heard, and to stand together as a united front.
