Bring in C-Dot 416 to OPEN for “The Maine Event” this Saturday
The Issue
This petition was originally created during the morning of Wednesday, April 24th, in an attempt to fill the void that T-Pain left when he dropped out of "The Maine Event". We as students and concert ticket holders came together and signed this petition to voice our opinions on who we thought should fill that void. In a matter of 6 hours this petition received over 400 signatures in support of C-Dot 416. C-Dot's manager as well as many supporters reached out to event organizers, but were met with only read receipts and silence. Over 400 people are left disappointed in the lineup decision and how the idea was not even entertained by the event planners.
Unfortunately the headliner opening has been filled by Snakehips, but all hope is not lost. In the schedule for the concert there is a one hour period between 5:30 p.m and 6:30 p.m, that is unaccounted for. This time is likely being used to play pre-recorded songs by artists who are clearly not in attendance. We as students and attendees see this time slot as a perfect opportunity to have C-Dot perform. A whole hour would be more than enough time for him to play his most popular tracks and satisfy the hundreds of fans who want him to perform.
C-Dot 416 has grown his platform from a simple Soundcloud account with only a hundred followers, to a music career full of 46 different songs on major music platforms. This process started only a few years ago but the brand of C-Dot has grown tremendously since them.
The southern Maine rapper averages 20k listeners a month on Spotify alone. C-Dot brings in even more listeners from various platforms such as Apple Music, Soundcloud, and Youtube. Clearly the young artist is doing something right as he boasts impressive numbers such as these.
This event is the exact type of performance that will bring C-Dot 416 thousands of new listeners and help bring his career growth to new heights. At the end of the day the University of Maine is intended to help people reach their full potential and achieve their career goals, people chasing their dreams just like C-Dot.
We ask that the concert organizers/student government listen to our proposal and not only contact C-Dot or his manager, but make this dream become a reality.
