The students of ULL would like to implement a pass/fail system for the Fall semester of 2020. Many students are doing poorly due to online format being conducted. We understand that COVID-19 has called for online classes; however, a large amount of students cannot thrive in an online setting. Many students are considering dropping out, since GPAs will fall below what can be considered a GPA worth saving. The hurricanes during this season have not helped the situation. Many have been left without power for multiple days to weeks with this last hurricane, Delta. The chaos during this semester with both online schooling and the destructive hurricane season calls for an optional pass/fail system just like the one implemented during the Spring semester of 2020. This system would ensure that students remain in college and be able to achieve their goals of getting a degree.
