Following discussion, the Council agreed to postpone making any decision until December 2020, to allow time for a new working group comprising the University, member institutions, and student and alumni representatives to collaborate on solutions for the continuing provision of intercollegiate student activities. Thank you so much for your support, comments and letters; the member institutions and the University heard your voice and in their statement acknowledge the value of the clubs and societies: "The University is delighted to have this opportunity to consider a fresh new direction for the valued and longstanding sports clubs and student societies, and is grateful to students and alumni for raising awareness of the strong feelings about them" We look forward to working in partnership with the University towards a sustainable future together and to this end we are closing the petition as an act of good faith.
