The Dry Dock is a popular local establishment which has been well frequented by a number of students over the years. Not only a meeting place, it is a staple of Leicester University social life. The close proximity of the pub to campus, matched with its flexible and affordable range of products for students, meets a massive gap in the current service provision offered on campus. The removal of the pub as part of the overall campus development strategy represents yet another blow to campus life. It is in close proximity to the local football and rugby stadiums and is a great focal point of the local communities of Clarendon Park and Evington. Therefore, we the undersigned, urge the University of Leicester to successfully engage with the student body, reconsider its decision to close The Dry Dock and incorporate the pub in its plans for expansion.
