With the University of Leicester’s decision to close on the 20th March and there being no physical examinations taking place in May/June, the majority of students are returning home in line with university advice that those able to go home should do so.

It seems unfair that students should have to pay their final rent instalment to live in accommodation that not only are they being advised to leave, but have no reason to stay in because the university has closed early. 

Therefore, we are asking that the university offers students the option to terminate their accommodation contract early so that they don’t have to pay the final rent instalment if they agree to leave early.
