Chinese Star is a family-run and local restaurant in Houston that serves the UH campus and the greater Houston surrounding-community. Since 1990, Chinese Star has served a number of hungry students, campus professionals, locals and visitors. Chinese Star is a campus favorite, known for its diverse assortment of delicious Chinese entrees, sides and drinks; from sweet and sour chicken and fried wontons to arguably the best bubble teas and smoothies on campus, and all at a great and affordable price, Chinese Star is like no other. The portions of each dish are beyond generous, and prices are incomparable to other restaurants on campus. There’s something to eat for everyone, and they conveniently accept Cougar Cash. The late night hours, closing at 9:30 PM everyday except Sunday, make it a highly valued and visited venue for students late on campus looking to enjoy a dine-in meal instead of other fast-food options. The customer service is stellar and patrons are always greeted with a smile.

On December 17th, 2016, the University of Houston plans to issue a ‘Notice of Non-Renewal of Lease’ to Chinese Star, with plans to open another restaurant on campus.
