This petition is towards David Lassner, the current president of the University of Hawai'i. It is an absolutely unacceptable that this "man" decided to sign away Mauna Kea as if it were nothing. Our Mauna Kea is being abused and this man could care less. 

It is so disappointing that our “leader” for the University of Hawai’i doesn't give a damn about the people that this is affecting, he is hiding in his office like a scared little boy just like Ige. The mission of this university is to preserve the Hawaiian culture and spreading knowledge along with wisdom from generation to generation. It’s so embarrassing that we have this "leader" speaking on behalf of everyone serving the University of Hawaii and native Hawaiians. Just resign already so we can have someone who cares about us. Lassner has proven to biased as he is already serving as Chancellor for UH Manoa and President for the UOH. He has shut down several programs that were supposed to be started at UH West Oahu because he would rather the funding be at UH Manoa. The bio of David Lassner states, “He is also committed to sustainability and becoming a model indigenous-serving university.” Does any of that sound like he is serving an indigenous community? Lassner you and Ige are a sell outs. You and Ige don’t care about anybody but these big corporations. You have the power and the authority to stop TMT construction but you are deciding not to. You’re no leader, you’re a coward. This will follow you wherever you go and you will be reminded of how you failed the community. I have several solutions for this.

1. BUILD THE TELESCOPE SOMEWHERE ELSE! 
It has been brought to my attention that Mauna Kea is not the only area on this planet for this telescope to be built. So stop acting like it’s the only area on the planet. 
2. Break down the telescopes on there donate them to the engineering programs or technology programs in the UH system and build that telescope in that spot. 
I recommend this because technology is constantly advancing and watch in five to ten years scientists are going to have some sob story about how this telescope has the “latest” technology and it will be a repeat. 
3. You could just man up and shut this down and have the telescope be built elsewhere. Let’s be real your reputation is damaged and so the university's reputation. Faculty and staff have left to go speak out on this topic. You cannot be trusted. I wouldn’t trust a single thing that comes out of your mouth.

Everybody wanna be the big boss but not everybody can lead.
