SINGE USE PLASTIC! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S STILL AN ISSUE ON CAMPUS?!

The University of Exeter strives to be as sustainable as possible, however, one of the most basic issues has not been tackled. Currently, some Student Guild businesses such as the Lemon Grove and The Ram still serve drinks in single use plastic cups.

As many of you know, single use plastic is extremely detrimental to the planet and to our health. Here are some facts:

  • Plastic can take 500-1000 years to decompose.
  • In 2018 the world consumed 500 billion plastic cups
  • By 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean
  • Of the 300 million tons of plastic produced every year, 50% are for single use

Why should a couple of drinks have such an impact?

This petition asks The Lemon Grove and The Ram to ditch single use plastic cups and use other alternatives such hard plastic reusable cups.

SIGN this petition to make Exeter a more sustainable campus and most importantly help preserve our environment before it’s too late.
