Deny Students for Justice in Palestine the Ground to Spread Anti-Semitism
Why this petition matters

"The aim of this theme is to remind us that Zionism is not an insurmountable force. We know that Zionism is ethnic cleansing, destruction, mass expulsion, apartheid, and death, but it is also something very tangible. The reason we can have hope is that Zionism is a human ideology and a set of laws that have been challenged and can be destroyed."- 2018 National Students for Justice in Palestine Conference Platform
This November, Students for Justice in Palestine is holding their Annual National Conference at University of California, Los Angeles. Despite the notorious anti-Semitic rhetoric used by this group, UCLA is facilitating the conference by hosting the three-day summit on its campus.
SJP's conference is designed to instill hatred towards students and intolerance while proliferating lies about Israel. SJP creates an unsafe campus environment for students regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, political affiliations, or religious beliefs, but disproportionately affects Jewish students.
Here are some recent examples of SJP's blatant anti-Semitism, which have been documented by the AMCHA Initiative:
- A student, and prominent SJP member at Stanford University, posted on Facebook a declaration that he’ll “physically fight Zionists on campus next year if someone comes at me with their ‘Israel is a democracy’ bullshit. : ) and after i abolish your a** i’ll [sic] go ahead and work every day for the rest of my life to abolish your petty a** ethnosupremacist settler-colonial state.” (July 20, 2018)
- A guest column by SJP in The Aggie titled “Kill and Expect Love?” demonized Israel, claiming, “the Israeli state systematically sterilizes its African population in order to support a white-supremacist bio-political project.” (July 17, 2018)
- SJP disrupted an Students Supporting Israel UCLA event on campus entitled “Indigenous Peoples Unite,” with three speakers from the Armenian, Jewish, and Kurdish communities, by storming the room, ripping down Armenian and Jewish flags, chanting loudly, dancing, and denigrating the panelists. (May 17,2018)
We urge UCLA to reconsider allowing itself to be a platform for SJP, which is built on pillars of racism, lies, intimidation, and bigotry.
