The University of Arizona once had a full fledged NCAA recognized Wrestling Program with scholarships and program funding. Now it’s only a club team that competes at the NCWA level with no support from the Athletic Department. Tucson Arizona and Arizona Wrestling as a whole ships out our top athletes to power house universities such as Iowa, Iowa State, Penn State, Ohio State and many other NJCAA and NCAA Division II schools across the country. Arizona State has a program that is always in top contention on the NCAA rankings and with The U of A program as another option for high school students looking to further their education as a student athlete would only benefit our states programs. Both Men’s and Women’s wrestling is the fastest growing interscholastic sport in our country and it’s time we revive the program at the U of A and keep our elite athletes here at home. I would love to see a men’s and women’s team reinstated here in Tucson, Arizona
