If work is pooled as proposed there is the likelihood of clinical risk to patient treatment. Medical secretaries are linchpins of the organisation, they make communication happen and offer access to information, they prevent many problems becoming major complaints. Their knowledge and loyalty is huge and a largely hiddent benefit to the NHS. They need to be valued as highly skilled members of the team.
