Sexual violence is a serious problem throughout college campuses, with 1 in 7 UCC students having been a victim of serious sexual assault or rape (O'Riardan 2015). Mandatory consent classes are needed to clear up any 'blurred lines' around consent, so we can best protect students. Through education and understanding, sexual violence will become less prevalent. 
Trinity and Queens University have successfully introduced mandatory consent classes to their students - it's time for UCC to introduce theirs.
