The University at Albany, SUNY athletics department recently released its new Great Dane logo. The new logo features a Great Danes with prominent cropped ears. Great Danes do not naturally have ears that stand up straight - ears that stand up straight require an operation which poses more risks than benefits to the dog. Research shows that there are no medical benefits to cropped ears, often this is solely done to make the dog appear "tough".  This logo normalizes (and promotes) cropped ears on dogs - an unnecessary cosmetic surgery which the University at Albany should not support. Change the logo so that our Great Dane appears in its natural state with its floppy ears. End the promotion of this unnecessary cosmetic surgery.
