More than 71,000 kids between the ages of 4 and 21 go to the emergency room EVERY YEAR with injuries from bunk and loft beds. My son almost died from a fall while sound asleep in a loft 7 ft. off the ground on his college campus. Clark suffered a massive skull fracture that led to a brain bleed and a stroke. He had to have brain surgery and spent the next 2-1/2 months in a coma. The 16 months that followed were spent in a rehabilitation hospital relearning everything; eating, talking, walking, using the bathroom, etc. Injuries like his and the countless others that occur each year could be prevented by having safety rails be the "default" on any bed that is over 36" off the ground. It's the least we can do to make our kids the safest we can at a time in their life when safety is probably the last thing on their mind. Thank you!
