Universiteit van Amsterdam: Take immediate actions to improve SIS (Student Information System)
The Issue
Many students at Amsterdam University College and UvA have experienced some difficulties and confusion in their course registration through SIS (Student Information System), the course registration platform of the University of Amsterdam.
The system is not user-friendly and administers confusing information regarding course credits and availability. Other confusion, include; the concept of the waiting list, course code, course name, fields such as units and whether it’s mandatory or not. These problems do not only affect students, but also tutors who guide us in the decision making process.
The Folia Magazine, UvA’s own weekly magazine also reported about SIS in November last year, details (in Dutch) can be found at http://www.foliaweb.nl/organisatie/sis-duur-laat-en-matig/
We, as the students of the University of Amsterdam, urge the university to take immediate actions to create a user-friendly online course registration platform for all.
