United Utilities to Improve Water Quality For All Customers In Their Area Or Lose Licence

The Issue

I am a resident of the Greater Manchester area, and like many others, I am deeply concerned about the appalling water quality in our region. This is not just an inconvenience; it's a threat to our health and wellbeing.

Many Households are facing mounting costs due to extremely hard water prematurely breaking major household appliances such as Boilers, Radiators, Washing machines, Dishwashers, Irons, Kettles and more.

One issue many are facing are affecting day to day things like getting hair or teeth feeling clean, just the taste is downright foul.

The environmental impact also knocks on to plastics waste, increased due to people turning to bottle water as their only true source of drinking water.

United Utilities, as the company responsible for water supply in our region, has failed us repeatedly. The poor quality of water we receive is unacceptable for a developed nation like ours. According to a report by Discover Water UK, United Utilities had 115 incidents related to water quality between 2019-2020 alone (source: Discover Water UK). This is far too many.

We need clean and safe drinking water – it's not just a basic human right but also essential for our health and survival. We call on United Utilities to take immediate action towards improving the water quality in Northwest England.

The time for change is now! Sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves access to clean and safe drinking water.
