The Issue

As of 2021, Betty has served 31 years as an honorable inmate. She is now 73 years old, positive for COVID, and currently experiencing a decline in health with very limited mobility. Betty has apologized “for taking the lives of two people who were loved by many,” shown remorse, and received a positive psychological evaluation. Please help her children Kathy and Rhett, as they have made requests before the Board of Parole for their mother’s release. As she is no longer the broken woman she was 31 years ago.

In 1991 at a second trial, after a hung jury, Betty Broderick was sentenced to 32-years-to-life in prison for two counts of second-degree murder of her ex-husband and his current wife. Betty was a broken woman at the time. She had suffered through multiple miscarriages, a son who died days after birth, psychological and emotional abuse. All which she endured while raising four children and supporting her husband. She became riddled with grief, anger, depression and guilt. As an unfortunate result she committed double homicide.
