End Breed Specific Legislation

Many breeds of dogs have been wrongfully judged as aggressive, untrustworthy, and dangerous. Among them are harmless ones such as The American Pitbull Terrier, The Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, etc. These dogs have been banned in over 700 cities in the United States alone. Bully breeds aren't the only ones that are being discriminated against, Doberman Pinschers, Chow Chows, Dalmations, and the German Shepherd (to name a few) are discriminated against also. Along with being banned in certain areas, insurance companies are refusing to cover them. The media built up this image these dogs are a menace to society, when in fact, this simply is not true. Also, there's no evidence that these breeds as a whole are dangerous dogs.
With this petition, I aim to take down Breed Specific Legislation to give ALL breeds of dogs a chance. For instance, The American Pitbull Terrier, and Staffordshire Terrier, and many other breeds, have ranked high on a temperament test. Every dog deserves to live wherever a responsible owner wants them free from restrictions (such as having to wear a muzzle at all times outdoors) every day. Also, breeds such as the Doberman Pinscher, Dalmatian, and German Shepherd are among many dogs that should be covered by insurance and be allowed to live in places that any other dog should be allowed to.
Breed Specific Legislation is really discrimination against dogs that are wrongfully judged. Breeds are banned due to people who are ignorant as to how the breeds really act. Many people only see what the media has built up around them and think that it's how they really act. The media built up the image that many dogs are really dangerous dogs, when in fact, this is untrue. What the media fails to show are the good parts that are completely true about the dogs and that is that they are really loving dogs.
Must a dog be punished for it's undying loyalty to humans? No. Instead of banning the breed, you should punish the deed. Bad owners make bad dogs.
