The government of Azerbaijan and its armed forces, to this day,  refuse to release all Armenian Prisoners of War (POWs) and civilians in their custody, in direct violation of the tripartite peace agreement of November 10, 2020, explicitly stipulating their release.

Recent news reports have confirmed the extra judicial torture and subsequent murder of 19 of more than 250 illegally held Armenian prisoners of war and civilian non-combatants by the government of Azerbaijan within its state-run prisons and rendition sites. 12 of the 19 murdered "prisoners" were, actually, civilian non-combatants and, of these, 4 were women.

Azeri authorities continue to torture, abuse, and murder Armenians in their custody with flagrant disregard for all international norms, as well as for international and interstate laws and conventions governing the status of wartime captives and prisoners of war.

Our collective and most urgent  priorities are to secure the immediate release of each and every Armenian illegally held by Azerbaijan, bring them home to be reunited with their families, secure the return of the remains of murdered soldiers and those deemed Missing in Action (MIA), and seek justice for those tortured--and still being tortured--at the hands of the Azeri state.
