Good news! Mr. Big at the USPS called me back! He is interested in the petition and the photos of mailboxes. I’ve sent both to him. He said the USPS has some flexibility, one of which is that he thinks we have too many mailbox pedestals. For example, we may have 2 12-box and 1 8-box on three pedestals. Those can be replace by 1 36-box pedestal at a greatly reduced price. He is also willing to consider paying for the installation of boxes we buy. He also said that they have many mailboxes in storage than they can draw on. So, a very friendly conversation has begun, and many new options. Fingers crossed! Oh—and we’re a “Hot Topic” on the MUD’s website. Thank you, MUD Board! AND we’re working other angle. We have neighbors who know some people in high places, so that’s going to help a lot. Onward!
