Legislation will be voted in the House in mid November to end 6 day delivery thus causing 80,000 people to loose their jobs. Also included in HR 2309 is to eliminate house to house delivery by the year 2015. Millions of people receive prescriptions by mail and the 6 day model is highly depended upon by these customers. Millions of people calculate the date to mail payments before deadlines in order to maintain credit worthiness and a disruption of one day could be the difference of timely payments and a late fee. Federal holidays already back up mail causing late deliveries after such dates and this would become the "norm" if 6 day delivery is abolished. NOTE: the 6th day will not necessarily be Saturday. It could be a middle of the week such as Wednesday. Rural America will be forgotten completely as these deliveries are more costly than urban areas and currently that is how the Post Office affords to support rural deliveries. Any private company will not incure the costs to maintain rural deliveries. Currenty the Post Office takes UPS parcels the "last mile" because of that reason. The public can already see that privatization will cut services to millions of Americans. The Post Office is the only institution set up in our Constitution by the founding fathers. It has a purpose!
