Commemorative stamps for San Juan, Puerto Rico 500 anniversary

Commemorative stamps for San Juan, Puerto Rico 500 anniversary
The Issue
Established in 1521, the city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, is the oldest city of the United States. It is the second oldest city founded in the American continent by the Spaniards originally in 1508. This capital city has a governor's mansion built in 1532 which is still used as the oldest governor's house used continuously during 500 years in the New World. Three years ago the Philatelic Society of Puerto Rico endorsed a petition to the United States Postal Service in order to obtain a commemorative four stamp series for the 500 anniversary of the foundation of the city of San Juan in 2021.
The petition has been denied as part of the 2021 list of commemorative stamps selected by the United States Postal Service.
The people of the island of Puerto Rico will not accept the decision of the United States Postal Service denial of issuing a series of commemorative stamps for the 500 anniversary of its Capital city. The city commemorative stamps and the exaltation of it´s significant accomplishment as the oldest city of the country should be honored, celebrated and blessed with a series of commemorative stamps.
Let it be known among the fifty states of the union of the United States... San Juan is the oldest city of the United States of America.
