Hello Friends,
Well, here we are. President Trump has officially been impeached for a historic second time in one 4-year term. Yet, Rep. Yvette Herrell still maintains that he—nor any of the seditious law makers who amplified his calls for violence—are not at fault. Instead, Herrell blames lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, Democrat and Republican, as well as us. That's right: Yvette thinks we are at fault, too, and still unequivocally supports Donald J. Trump.
Are we going to allow one of those seditious terrorists to project their crimes onto others? Are we going to keep a Representative who only represents herself and echoes blatant lies?
NO.
I urge each of you to continue talking to your fellow New Mexicans about how dangerous this behavior is, and then take steps to call Herrell's DC office and respectfully voice your concerns to her staff directly. They can be reached at (202) 225-2365, and when calling, remember that Herrell's interns are not Herrell. Please be respectful, but firm in your assertions. She needs to be made aware that her behavior does not represent our beautiful state, and that we will not allow her to continue misrepresenting New Mexico and abusing the constitution for her own personal and political gain. It's shameful and embarrassing for her and her district, but it also endangers the prosperity and security of our State and Nation.
Herrell must go. If she will not resign on her own accord, then we must act to legally remove her from office.
That is why the ultimate goal of this petition is formally changing. Because the United States Constitution does not provide for nor authorize the recall of United States officers such as Senators [or] Representatives, we are now focused on Rep. Herrell's immediate expulsion.
"Under the United States Constitution and congressional practice, Members of Congress may have their services ended prior to the normal expiration of their constitutionally established terms of office by their resignation or death, or by action of the house of Congress in which they are a Member by way of an “expulsion,” or by a finding that in accepting a subsequent “incompatible” public office, the Member would be deemed to have vacated his congressional seat. Under Article I, Section 5, clause 2, of the Constitution, a Member of Congress may be removed from office before the normal expiration of his or her constitutional term by an “expulsion” from the Senate (if a Senator) or from the House of Representatives (if a Representative) upon a formal vote on a resolution agreed to by two-thirds of the Members of that body present and voting. While there are no specific grounds for an expulsion expressed in the Constitution, expulsion actions in both the House and the Senate have generally concerned cases of perceived disloyalty to the United States, or the conviction of a criminal statutory offense which involved abuse of one’s official position." - https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/RL30016.html
We think Herrell has a few boxes checked there.
Again, Herrell must go. This petition will be sent to the United States House of Representatives and the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct to urge both bodies to move forward with a formal expulsion of Herrell and any other seditious law makers.
Can you help us gain more momentum by sending this petition to fellow New Mexicans and calling on Herrell's immediate resignation?
-Michael
