Shut down River View Christian Academy

Shut down River View Christian Academy
The Issue
The survivors of River View Christian Academy are calling for the state of Texas to investigate the academy regarding the abuse that continues to take place as long as their “school” stays open.
River View Christian Academy, formally known as Julian Youth Academy, markets itself as a private Christian residential boarding school for troubled teens.
RVCA marketing to parents whose children exhibit what they believe to be “troubling” behaviors. They claim to encourage their students by redirecting teens who “struggle” by putting them in an environment that is structured with a routine schedule that the teens can count on.
Here is what RVCA does not tell you.
RVCA was initially located 40 miles up a mountain in Whitmore, California, where they moved outside of Austin, Texas, but why?
“The worst thing that I saw there was a student who didn’t follow the rules and was forced to take his psych-meds while being restrained and forcibly fed them. Another student was purposely hit by an SUV by a staff who drove it at 30-35 mph.”
“If we do find out they’ve been self-harming, we treat the wound, and they receive discipline because that’s against our policies” – a former RVCA staff.
“My head was banged against the ground multiple times as a form of restraint.”
“I hung myself because I felt as if there was no escape. I woke up after a staff member cut me down. Tiffany had the staff drive me to the hospital and left me right after.”
The state of California fined RVCA $200 as long as they remained open. So, they relocated to Texas abruptly before their campus was liable, leaving the students with unclean water and without toilets for days. If they were no longer welcome in California, then why should they be allowed to reopen anywhere else?
Many former students reported having psychological trauma because of their time at RVCA.
We are calling for the state of Texas to investigate River View Christian Academy.
“The abuse of a child is the business of anyone who knows about it.”
– Thomas Houlahan
Now you know.
So, what can you do? Sign this petition urging the state of Texas to investigate River View Christan Academy.
“I didn’t deserve the abuse I endured, but I refuse to sit back and watch it happen to anyone else. I survived, and I want to make sure that the girls, currently trapped, survive. Then eventually, no more children will have to say that they survived the abuse caused by River View Christian Academy.” - RVCA Survivor
