This petition is about having animal abuse be put to a more extreme consequence. I believe it should be because, yes animals can be vicious but when the animal is doing you no harm, it shouldn’t give you the right to hit it or neglect it. 

       There are so many people in the world who will go look for an animal just to hurt it. I saw a post on Instagram, and it showed someone beating a dog with a stick and killing it on video. Stuff like that shouldn’t be allowed in this society. There are so many posts about animals being abused. I can almost guarantee that if you looked up a video about an animal being abused right now there would be stuff popping up left, right and center.

        If this day and age can fight for black lives matter, why can’t we fight for animal lives matter. I know this sounds stupid, but it’s true. Also Im not comparing black lives to animals lives in no way shape or form. Humans are animals, animals can be humans best friends, from a rat to an elephant. From bunny’s in their rabbit hole to birds in the sky. The statement “Humans are animals” has been scientifically proven. Humans have unique Traits regarding morality and language but biologically humans are a type of animal known as a mammal. 

        Now I do realize animal abuse is illegal, and you can go to jail for 5 years because of it, but in my opinion it should’ve been 10 years. In my opinion, depending on how many animals are killed or abused by one person depends on their consequence. For example if they have abused or killed 10 or more animals they should be put on death row. 

         Mind you the term animal abuse refers to all animals and most types of abuse such as, neglection, physical, starvation, sexual, abandonment, animal fighting, poaching, and being hunter for sport. Emotional abuse is not often and far to difficult to recognize, yet emotional abuse may ultimately cause more suffering and do more lasting damage to the animal. When I say poaching or hunting for sport, I don’t mean animals such as dear and birds and animals that are legal to hunt. I mean animals like lion, elephants, pandas. Animals have gotten so close to extinction because people are hunting for sport and it’s not right.

     The whole point of this petition is to have the consequences for animal abuse raised to certain levels to have people not want to do it for the consequences. Yes, I realize that there are gonna be people who still do it, but I feel the awareness and the punishment should be raised depending on how bad the animal abuse is. I also understand that people have a right to a fair trial, but animal abuse should be treated just as rape and murder is treated.
