Animal testing in cosmetics has been banned/decreased in many countries, except for the US. It is unnecessary, considering we have many alternatives to animal testing with great results. There are even skin graphs of human cells and skin that would give more accurate results, since animals are different than people in many ways. It is inhumane, and ridiculously unnecessary considering all that we have achieved in science.
