There are less than 20.000 African Lions left in Africa and Walter Palmer, a Minnesotan Dentist who enjoys killing for pleasure, has killed at least 2 of them, the latest one being Cecil (this without taking into account that power struggles caused by Cecil's death could result in the death of Cecil's brothers and offspring.

As much as we are enraged by Cecil's death, it seems that Walter Palmer might not face charges for killing Cecil because the US has not classified the African Lion as an Endangered Species even though their numbers have been decreasing dramatically over the years (100.000 in the 80's, 50.000 in the 90's, 20.000 in 2000 according to the National's Geographic Big Cat Initiative).
