Fairly license White Fences shows. Stop creating a monopoly/oligopoly and overriding existing WF dates. Maintain a healthy dressage show environment in the Wellington/Loxahatchee area.
The Issue
White Fences shows are the only holdout dressage show company in the winter horse capital of the world. Gold Coast, Wellington Classic, International Horse Sport, the Palm Beach Dressage Derby, and Global Dressage are now running together at a combined facility.
Critical to the health of the Sport is having options of both show venue and management. When you lose competition, you lose all forms price control.
Naturally, shows would have to offer better products and prices to their riders to stay competitive in the business. This is not possible when the USEF allows the combined larger show companies to take over existing White Fences show dates and also affords them what we believe to be are unfair advantages in licensing.
White Fences existing show dates are routinely overtaken by CDI and national shows. Our March show date (WBTWF II & III) has previously run Fri-Sun for several years, but the Friday date has now been revoked by another licensed competition that has had fewer than 50% of classes fill and was not held last year. This competition was originally part of a CDI + national that overran our entire existing weekend.
Our shows are routinely licensed over, but when we want to continue to run show dates we have previously used, it is denied.
Our denial of Level 3 (NAJYRC, YH, Pony, Brentina) status for certain shows due to "Concentration of Dates" means that riders are forced to enter more costly CDIs to achieve their qualifying scores
The USEF and USDF need to be more in touch with their constituency- Adult Amateurs and professionals alike- and protect the White Fences shows as an important part of dressage history and an important show venue for now and the future.
When signing, please indicate if you are a USEF/USDF member in both the "Why is this important to you" and as your last name: First Name: Jane Last Name: Doe (USEF member)
