Pesticides are killing our habitat slowly, but surely under our radar. The United States Department of Agriculture and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service estimate that between 6 and 14 million fish are killed by pesticides each year in the U.S. Pesticides have also been notoriously found in rivers and streams. Not only is it killing habitats, but it is affecting the well being of us humans. According to The National Academy of Sciences, there are about 4,000 to 20,000 cases of cancer. Pesticides can also cause a range of adverse effects on human health, including cancer, acute and chronic injury to the nervous system, lung damage, and more. Over one billion pounds of pesticides are applied each year, and we believe that this must be lowered.
These facts really came at us hard and we were really surprised. We felt that it was our duty as a member of the community to do something about it. This is why we decided to send a petition to the Environmental Protection Agency about lowering the pesticide usage allowed for farmers. Although the EPA knows the dangers of pesticides, it is in denial about it.We want to make an impact on the earth’s habitat. We will be associating ourselves with Deep Green Resistance Organization to help make our petition successful. We will be contacting them in hopes of having more support in getting the EPA to change their regulations on pesticide use on agriculture.
Your help and signing of this petition will help us achieve our goal of lowering pesticide usage among farmers to better the environment and the well-being of us humans.
