Our kids are in Sherwood Forest Elementary breathing in hazardous chemicals and bacteria not to mention being exposed to waste from rats and roaches all over the school. We need to step up and protect our children by strongly encouraging Norfolk Public School District Officials to close this school until it is properly cleaned and is safe for our children and staff to return. If cleaning specialists are required to wear protective suits into this school why are our children still in class. Why are our children playing on a playground with rat poison? Why is the school serving food with roaches coming out of our children's' bags of food? Why are the kids and staff becoming ill and having to leave school. They say they are aggressively cleaning to expedite the process, but why are they "aggressively cleaning" for "low to moderate" pest infestation and mold? Is your child experiencing breathing difficulties or becoming ill while at school? What other symptoms are your child experiencing? We need to protect our children when the school obviously isn't putting their needs or health first. How can we expect our children to learn or grow when the environment they are being provided is compromised? Some parents don't even know what is going on in their children's school because they didn't receive the vague phone call stating there was an infestation, and when the staff requested that HR send out letters to the Parents to inform them of the situation at school they were rejected. I took us having a town hall style parent meeting with the school board for them to start moving because they didn't have the answers to the questions we were asking. They claimed "they missed the mark."

This is unacceptable for or children, teachers, and staff to be in this building while the "aggressive cleaning" is taking place.
