Currently, many publicly funded schools in the United States are teaching alternatives to evolution. Teaching creation stories in publicly funded schools is a violation of the seperation between church and state as well as a detriment to education.  The teaching of creationism and intelligent design have already been prohibited but there is no real enforcement of this.
