Save Nosey the Elephant from her cruel owner
For the last 10 years, Nosey the elephant has endured unimaginable torture and the USDA has refused to take action. Nosey’s owner has denied her medical. He has beaten and electro shocked her. The USDA recognizes the abuses, but has yet to take real action to save her from continued abuse. Tell the USDA that 10 years is far too long to ignore the inhumane treatment of an animal. Tell the USDA to remove Nosey from her owner and place her in a sanctuary that will give her the care she deserves.
My name is Robin Jewell Roberts. I am founder and president of Miracle March to Protect the Captive, an organization that seeks to bring awareness to the plight of animals who suffer abuse at the hand of their owners. Our mission is to defend those animals that can't defend themselves. When I heard Nosey’s story I felt compelled to act.
In 2011 Hugo Liebel, Nosey’s owner, was slapped with 33 violations of the Animal Welfare Act including denying her veterinary care, providing inadequate and unsafe housing conditions, and inhumane tethering. These violations date back almost a decade and prove that Mr. Liebel is not a suitable caretaker. He is unwilling to take the appropriate steps to provide her with the care she needs. Unfortunately rather than rescuing Nosey, in 2013 the USDA allowed Mr. Leible to settle provided that he address the AWA violations.
Two years have passed and the violations have continued and her condition has only gotten worse. Her arthritis has rendered her almost lame, causing her legs to buckle under her own weight. One wrong move could mean disaster for the children who ride her and death for her. If she is left in Mr. Liebel’s care she will surely die a cruel and painful death.
It is time the USDA realizes that Mr. Liebel isn’t going to change. Tell the USDA to take action and put Nosey in a sanctuary.
The Liebel Family Circus has been cited for over 200 violations of animal abuse and neglect. In 2013 the USDA made a deal with the devil and did not hold him accountable. The abuse continues for Nosey the Elephant. Two documented violations of putting Nosey and children at risk giving them rides, January and February of 2015. We want the USDA to follow through and protect not only Nosey but all animals that they are sworn to protect.
