Legalize recreational marijuana in iowa

Legalize recreational marijuana in iowa
The Issue
Normal everyday people smoke marijuana illegally. Unfortunately they have to take a very big risk when they buy it off the streets. A drug dealer is looking for money. They want to maximize profit with very little effort. How do they do this? Theres a messed up way of doing it by putting addictive chemicals in the marijuana they sell. Its called lacing the weed. Usually they lace it with something like crack cocaine or even meth. It might not be visible to the naked eye but theres just enough there to produce a narcotic physical withdrawal. The user wouldn't even know. Thats not the only risk they take. Police are supposed to enforce the law. Having too much marijuana could yeild a lengthy prison sentence. Thats our tax payer money paying for someone to be in prison that didnt hurt anybody. Some potheads are even fully functional and improve the lives of everybody around them.
So why are the police enforcing a flawed policy? They should be busting real criminals that have actually made our society a dangerous place, not some guy who wants to enjoy marijuana recreationally.
So marijuana should be legalized in Iowa and Iowa residents should be allowed to posses 2 ounces (visitors half an ounce). Also workplace descrimination against marijuana needs to be abolished. There should be no drug tests in the hiring process that test for marijuana. They dont breathilyze every morning before work so why should they even do one drug test for piddily marijuana? Just as many accidents or more happen when someone is drunk or hungover than when they're high or still slightly high from the night before. I would even go as far to say that a drug test is against one's privacy. Maybe the hard drugs should still be tested for because those can cause serious problems in the workplace.
Its time for the government of Iowa to hear us out and make a change for the better. Think of the money that could be made and all the people that would move here if marijuana became legal. Thats more jobs, would lessen the prison population by a lot, and would be a beacon for tourism. Clubs for marijuana could be allowed creating even more jobs.
Lets discuss the prison system. A large majority of prisoners are in there for possession of marijuana. Possession alone. Its wrong. Marijuana has been proven to be less dangerous and even less addicting than alcohol or tobacco. It is very hypocritical to let there be alcohol and tobacco but place a ban on marijuana. Iowa needs to follow its morals and legalize marijuana to be fair and righteous.
