Adding Poultry into the Systematic Approach

The Issue

We demand that poultry is added into the Systematic Approach. Everyday poultry is being slaughtered inhumanely by the thousands all over the world. However, I can't petition the world so I am starting in the United States of America. In the USA the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has implemented a policy called the Systematic Approach, which protects livestock from egregious (inhumane) treatment in connection with slaughter. But, poultry isn't included in the Systematic Approach because of the Poultry Product Inspection Act (PPIA) that states that slaughterhouses must use "best commercial practices." However, "best commercial practices" by definition means "methods, processes, procedures, systems, and/or usage that is commonly implemented in the business world and that is generally agreed to have produced the most satisfactory or desirable results on a consistent basis." The PPIA doesn't protect poultry, it protects the companies that process the poultry by providing a loophole for them to slip through. This is why poultry must be included in the Systematic Approach.

I am asking everyone to please sign this petition because no animal deserves to be treated inhumanely and I believe that if enough people support this we will be one step closer to reaching our goal. So please sign this petition to let the USDA and companies that treat not just poultry but all livestock inhumanely that people actually care.
