Keep U.S. Postal Service's Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta honest

Keep U.S. Postal Service's Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta honest
The Issue
The United States Postal Service's Mail Recovery Center has not been returning lost items to postal customers even when they fill out detailed search request forms and even when there are owners' names written on the items, especially when it comes to books. Instead, they have been auctioning off the vast majority of everything that passes through their warehouse. They have also sold off that power to auction items, which ARE NOT EVEN THEIRS IN THE FIRST PLACE, to a company called GovDeals.com, so that the rightful owners, starting in April (according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, in an article dated March 7, 2013 and written by Daniel Malloy) will actually have to look for, bid on, and BUY BACK THEIR OWN PROPERTY. This sale to a private company without Congressional approval is in VIOLATION OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION, and the ongoing auctions of items when owners have in good faith filled out search forms and hear nothing back from the Mail Recovery Center is nothing more than LEGALIZED THEFT and INSURANCE FRAUD. The Internet is full of these complaints, but nothing is being done about it. So it is TIME TO HOLD THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE'S MAIL RECOVERY CENTER responsible, either by allowing each state to handle their own lost mail, or to frequently AUDIT the Mail Recovery Center to determine whether they are doing their jobs or not, or to establish a Mail Recovery Center in another state altogether and end the monopoly Atlanta, Georgia has on receiving all lost goods of value and regular mail (also referred to as "dead" letters) as well. As of September 22, 2013, the Atlanta center is STILL piling up books and articles for auctions with very few books sorted well enough to even see titles.
