Petition updateReplace the New American Bible with the Douay-Rheims Bible in the Catholic ChurchWe are sending our petition to the USCCB
Ascent of Mount Carmel
Mar 18, 2018
The initial goal for our petition (to remove the New American Bible (NAB) translation from the USCCB website and to reinstate a translation based on the Vulgate, such as the Douay-Rheims Bible (DR) for all readings and gospels for masses in the United States) was to get 1,000 signatures. Thanks in very large part to the Church Militant Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TheChurchMilitant/) we achieved this goal. As of today, we have 1,041 signatures. We are accordingly sending the petition via certified letters to: • The president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Daniel Cardinal DiNardo; • The vice president of the USCCB, Bishop José Horacio; • The past president of the USCCB, Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz; • The past president of the USCCB, Timothy Cardinal Dolan; and • The offices of the USCCB in Washington D.C. We are hopeful that they will respond. Please continue to circulate the petition with your friends in family. It is possible that our petition with 1,041 signatures will be ignored. However, they will be unable to ignore our petition if we are able to garner 10,000 signatures. Catholic media would also be unable to ignore our petition. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, please check out these other Catholic petitions that I encourage you to sign: • A petition to restore Father's Day to March 19th - The Feast of St. Joseph - https://www.change.org/p/paul-ryan-restore-father-s-day-to-march-19th-the-feast-of-st-joseph • A petition for a postage stamp in honor of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception - https://www.change.org/p/postmaster-general-petition-for-a-postage-stamp-in-honor-of-our-lady-of-the-immaculate-conception
