The mother of the baby in the picture was in her teens when she was abducted by the Camerounese military on May 26, 2019, and gang-raped by seven soldiers for four days. The pretext for her abduction was that the military claimed they had SEEN a picture of her on the social media, holding a gun. Her denial that she did not even know what social media meant only aggravated her OFFENCE…

Unable to produce any evidence against her (by simply producing the photograph), she was released. Some kind lady took the girl home as an internally displaced person. On June 14, 2019, she was carrying her host’s goods to the market, accompanied by the lady, when soldiers stopped her just again! It may be instructive to state here that her beauty strikes!!! When her guardian sought to know the reason for the ARREST, she too was threatened with ARREST if she didn’t keep mute…

The girl has been in prison since then. When under labour on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 4 PM, the personnel of the prison’s dispensary would not attend to her on the pretext it was outside of their working hours. She gave birth alone on the floor as she has no bed. Only then did the prison’s authorities take her and the baby to the hospital.
She is still in her teens!"
