Today, the International Court of Justice has ruled that there is plausible evidence that Israel is committing genocidal acts in its assault on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. After outlining the devastating impact of Israel’s carpet bombing and ground invasion, the court ruled that urgent measures must be taken to protect Palestinians against genocide. The ICJ ruling carries huge implications for the UK, which must act to ensure it is not aiding the commission of the crime of genocide.
Our Palestinian partners are clear on what we must do now: escalate our actions to force all governments, corporations and institutions to end their complicity with Israel’s attacks. This includes mobilising against the UK-Israel arms trade. In the coming days we will be ramping up our pressure on the government to immediately suspend all arms sales to Israel.
This weekend, we are taking action in towns and cities across Britain to demand Barclays stops financing companies arming Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestinians.

Last week, we contacted you calling on people of conscience to boycott Barclays because of its complicity in Israel’s catastrophic attacks on Palestinians.
Your response has been incredible. Several hundred Barclays customers have pledged to close their account on 9 February 2024, and thousands of people who are not customers have written to the bank’s senior management to tell them you won’t use any Barclays services.
