The Associated Press reported yesterday, "Signaling a major pivot in its narrative, Saudi Arabia on Thursday said evidence shows that the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi was premeditated, an apparent effort to ease international outrage over the death of a prominent critic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman."
"The shifting explanations indicate Saudi Arabia is scrambling for a way out of the crisis that has enveloped the world’s largest oil exporter and a major U.S. ally in the Middle East. But a solution seems a long way off, partly because of deepening skepticism in Turkey and elsewhere that the brazen crime could have been carried out without the knowledge of Prince Mohammed, the kingdom’s heir apparent."
Washington correspondent for the Daily Sabah Ragıp Soylu has been following the details surrounding Khashoggi's murder very closely. He has noted:
- • Saudis smoked cigarettes, had alcoholic beverages following the murder: A Haber
- • Saudi FM: Outrcy over Khashoggi is “hysterical”, investigation to take time, won’t extradite suspects
- • Five luggages taken out of Consulate after murder disappeared: Sabah
- • Saudi prosecutor to visit Turkey on Sunday.
- Turkey has more evidence: Erdogan
- • Turkey readies extradition requests for 18 suspects • No DNA in the well, no evidence in the cars
- • Fiancé not planning to visit White House
We are watching and listening closely, too. The garbled message from our own White House is all over the place with leaders seemingly unable to land on coherent explanations. The Saudi prince comes up with a new daily narrative appearing to try and keep up with the drip by drip evidence being released by Turkish officials.
We want two things. The truth about what really happened to Jamal Khashoggi and justice. Please commit to asking five of your friends to sign and share this important petition which goes to the United Nations and International Criminal Court. With enough signatures, they cannot continue to ignore requests for a legitimate investigation.
Thank you everyone for signing this petition. We are at almost 60,000 signatures thanks to you.
