Stop Using Elephants for Entertainment Purposes

Stop Using Elephants for Entertainment Purposes
The Issue
In Sri Lankan culture elephants have been used for processions organised by temples for decades. However, lately they are being used for all sorts of entertainment purposes and social events privately organized across the country. Clearly the laws against animal cruelty are not strictly enforced and the organizers are not giving a single thought about the pain and discomfort they are causing these poor animals. Latest example is given in the link I have pasted with this petition. Please be kind enough to sign it so we can bring about some change in favour of these innocent animals!
Also please note that this is not a personal attack against the minister himself or any race or religion. This is purely for the purpose of bringing an end to such practices and against subjecting these innocent animals to any form of pain and or discomfort. Since they do not have voices, we need to be their voice!
