United for Change – Rebuild Trust in DUSD Athletics
The Issue
We are looking to gather at least 2,000 signatures before the next school board meeting on Monday, April 28th 6pm. Spread the word! We need unity to enact change!
Who is impacted
Students and families across the Dysart Unified School District are being directly impacted by a growing trend of instability in our high school athletic programs — all athletic programs. As an example, the district wide baseball programs have seen these employment stats in just the last 5 years:
- Dysart has lost 12 different head baseball coaches across its four high schools.
- Willow Canyon and Valley Vista have each had 5 head baseball coaches in the last 10 years.
- Valley Vista baseball experiencing staff loses 3 times in just the last 4 years.
- Shadow Ridge baseball has lost 4 coaches in the last 10 years
- Dysart High School baseball has lost 3 in the last 5 years.
This constant turnover deprives student-athletes of consistency, mentorship, and the opportunity to grow in a stable program. These stats are not unique to baseball!
It disrupts the foundation our kids need to succeed in their sport and in life.
What is at stake
This goes far beyond one team or one school. A pattern of instability in coaching leadership has real consequences. Programs lose momentum. Athletes lose opportunities to grow, compete, and pursue their goals beyond high school. Families lose trust in the system.
Without immediate, district-wide attention to this issue, we risk continuing a cycle that hurts our kids and weakens our schools.
Dysart has an opportunity to set a new standard — one that values long-term program success, professional support for coaches, and stability for student-athletes across the district.
Why is now the time to act
We believe this is the moment for positive change.
We are calling on the Dysart Unified School District and its School Board to recognize the urgent need for better leadership, clearer processes, and long-term support for athletic programs across all campuses.
This is a chance to show that the district listens, learns, and leads with students at the center.
With your signature, you're helping advocate for a better future — one where students, coaches, and families can count on the stability and vision they deserve. Let’s fix the foundation and build something stronger — together.
