We, United Flight Attendants, are demanding the AFA Council start conferring with the flight attendants they represent as to what we think is best for our work group. We are requesting that the elected officials stop making major decisions without including us in the discussions. We are demanding the AFA elected officials give an explanation as to why they unilaterally make decisions without hearing from the flight attendants they represent. Flight attendants should have the ability to vote on changes they want, i.e. line values, uniforms, minimum crew, and any other policy pertaining to us. The AFA remains inconsistent. We need to communicate more effectively with our AFA leaders and flight attendants. We are requesting monthly online town halls for everyone to ask questions and voice their concerns, instead of "filling out a worksheet." If we cannot be represented effectively, we will demand lower union dues, and possibly seek other unions help (there are other unions), to correctly represent us! It’s time for the AFA to grow a backbone, or we will begin making changes without the AFA!
