We, the undersigned residents, are voicing our strong opposition to Chamisa Hills Master Plan and Zone Map Amendment - Case Nos. 24-400-00001 and 24-100-00008

This petition exists because our concerns are not being heard by the city. At the recent Planning & Zoning meeting, an overwhelming majority—over 98% of attendees—spoke against the proposed zoning changes. Yet the board proceeded as if our voices didn’t matter. Two representatives from our area were asked to recuse themselves, leaving us with no local representation during a critical vote.

For years, we’ve endured the decline of the former golf course. Our health, safety, and property values have already suffered. And for the past 2.5 years, the situation has only worsened under new ownership. The city has failed to enforce municipal code violations and has allowed land degradation to go unchecked.

Worse still, proper notification about this proposal was not given to many residents. The city continues to push this project forward without requiring key studies such as a traffic impact analysis or a stormwater drainage plan—putting our neighborhoods at risk.

No one is standing up for us. Now, it’s up to all of us, on both sides of the course, to protect our homes, our streets, and our families.

By signing this petition, you are demanding that the Rio Rancho Governing Body:

Reject the current Master Plan proposal
Hold a public town hall with fair and full community participation
Require professional engineering reports on flood control and traffic safety before any approvals are granted
Our community deserves transparency, safety, and real representation.
