Seoul Seocho District became a Friendship City with Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, in 2020.
In Seoul Seocho District, there are numerous shops, markets, and restaurants where the dogs, who have been tortured their entire lives, end up being slaughtered in the most inhumane ways, such as by electrocution, hanging, or beating; and then thrown into boiling water – sometimes while they are still alive. In many places in Seoul, dogs are being killed in full view of other terrified, caged dogs. In addition, many abandoned and stolen former pets end up in this industry and are subject to the same cruelty.
We cannot stand by while Seoul Seocho District continues to deceive us and inflict unimaginable cruelty on animals who consider humans guardians and companions. So we are now asking Canton of Schwyz Mayor Petra Steimen-Rickenbacher and the Schwyz governing council to urge Seoul Seocho District to stop the dog and cat meat industry in their district – an illegal, brutal, and diabolical industry.
