Current mediated negotiations for a amalgamated collective bargaining agreement for Aircraft Technicians and related class and crafts have resulted in a "Last, Best , and Final" offer by United Airlines. Utilizing federal mediations laws this action forces a vote on all technicians and covered crafts represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters at United Airlines.
Article 16 . 1 Health and Welfare mandates covered employees to have Teamcare as their only option for health insurance and mandates that at the very least the employee "must maintain at a minimum Employee Only coverage"
Article 16.13 A Establishment of VEBA Trust . This section establishes a employee benefits account that is NOT "voluntary" as the acronym suggest but is instead mandatory at a hourly base rate deduction not to be determined by Union Representation until 30 days after ratification.
While we all strive to get the best possible collective bargaining agreement what is found in article 16 concerning TEAMCARE and VEBA is not in the best interest of the Employess covered under a Almagimated CBA.
