As a result of COVID-19 both Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester have ceased face-to-face teaching. It is unfair for students that have had to stop living in New Medlock House to pay the third instalment of rent when we are no longer residents there. Gatherings of large people are now being restricted, and residing in student accomodation is dangerous to ourselves and all the family and friends we could infect. Being obliged to pay upwards of £130 a week whilst not living in New Medlock House is unfair especially under the current circumstances that can’t be controlled us students. If this petition is successful, students that have fully moved out of New Medlock Hosue due to COVID-19 and have given their keys in will be exempt from paying the third instalment of rent. If not successful, UniteStudents will proceed with their money-grubbing ways. Thank you for reading my petition.
