“The year 2025 was a parade of corporate greed, political corruption, human rights and constitutional violations, and most shamefully the U.S. government’s continued support for apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. It also marked a significant escalation of imperial violence turned inward as fascism here at home alongside the looting of our treasury and destruction of key federal agencies. We salute the archivist, librarians, and historians among us cataloging, preserving, and air-gapping the people’s rich wealth of receipts for future prosecutions.
Accountability remains a central goal of our movement. As such, our focus is on the resistance of the people, which continued to mount and gain strength in 2025. Let’s plan to build upon our momentum in 2026.
Here’s a summary of our collective impacts last year.
- Public and political support for Palestinian rights increased and so did support for sanctions and arms embargo against Israel’s genocidal apartheid regime.
- Awareness of the BDS movement increased as did public participation in consumer boycotts. Spending conscientiously was a high-priority for shoppers with a majority surveyed reporting an intention to support small businesses and buy local.
- Consumer boycotts impacted companies’ bottom lines. In a key example, the boycott against Target in reaction to broken DEI promises reduced their stock price significantly (down 28% in 2025).
- People continued caring for one another with mutual aid and food bank organizations reporting increases in both the number of donors and fundraising revenue.
- Opposition to ICE and National Guard deployments to terrorize criminalized populations in U.S. cities has been growing. People are going beyond protesting and organizing to actively defend their communities.
If you, dear reader, have been participating in our United Practice of Resistance, you are in good and growing company. Carry on, and bring a friend along.”
As we continue our practice of resistance in 2026 let’s fortify our resolve to act in solidarity with all people pursuing freedom, equality, protection of their inalienable human rights, and justice.
Real justice requires accountability that creates effective systemic changes to prevent repeated injustices. Beyond words, or outrage, or punitive revenge on individual bad actors, systemic failures require systemic consequences.
For systems that fail to protect people’s rights, preserve their lives, and a habitable planet, accountability requires their dismantling. So, we renew our call to ABOLISH I.C.E. and hold all those who violate the people’s rights accountable.
