"As a result of our collective efforts and the many ways we’ve been taking better care of each other since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, violent interpersonal crime is down throughout the United States. Yet state violence and repression is skyrocketing alongside the “cost of living”. We are watching Israeli troops rounding up Palestinians in the West Bank, while our troops, at the behest of an openly racist administration, encircle large diverse and majority Black U.S. cities. We see racial profiling being used by ICE to kidnap workers and asylum seekers from our streets and courthouses, while prison industries across the world swell to hold more people accused of nonviolent crimes for elongating periods of time. Including in those numbers people accused of no legitimate crime, as is the case for our Palestinian comrades illegally held in Israeli jails. We can see our mainstream mass media publicly mourning an avowed white supremacist, while ignoring both the terrorist acts of targeted lynchings and the mass murder of active genocides. So now, to our practices of anti-racism, resisting propaganda, and opposing militarization, we are adding the practices of community self-defense and interrupting criminalization.
Stand with us in demanding real justice by taking action to:
- Practice Community Self-Defense
- Reclaim Community Funding
- Participate in Abolitionist Community Defense Efforts
- Reject Criminalization and Demand Justice
- Resist Fascism and Abolish ICE
- Demand Accountability for Crimes Against Humanity
Ultimately, we’ll all tailor our own practices to accomplish these aims. And though we’ll mainly advocate for practical ways to get us closer to our goals, we also hope to spark some radical imagination along the way.
Many of us have long been told that our dreams of real freedom and equality and equitable resource distribution were unreachable. We were told the existing systems were immovable at best. Or, worst yet, the best humanity could do. Thus requiring us to accept the counterfeits we’ve been offered. But we don’t even have to destroy the status quo systems now because they’re throwing themselves in the trash bin of history by allowing apartheid and genocide to continue for this long. The existing systems have not only permitted the worst of the worst, but many have even profited by it. As we hold them accountable for the violence they’ve perpetuated, we’ll also begin building something new. And some of the foundational things we will build into our new systems are equity, equality, accountability to the people, and community care.
Therefore, we’ll weave some thought exercises of radical imaginings throughout the remainder of this piece to help build a vision of what that might look like. We’ll talk about practical actions towards transformative ends. Let’s start to nourish our practice of resistance with our wildest dreams for the future of our equality and freedom-focused nation. And beyond that for our world. We hope this not only encourages you, dear reader, but also inspires you to do the same. When we unite to make real changes towards accomplishing shared goals, people change the world. And it will take all of our collective imaginations and actions to do so."

Do not go along with the plans of the enemies of liberty. When we stand against the intolerable evils of our time, we find more comrades beside us. Stay encouraged and defend each other. Let’s stand strong together.
